Kledang-Saiong Ipoh Hike: Day 1

This was a good will hike organized by PAC with the Ipoh Menglembu Kledang group. We took a bus from the Sg Nibong bus station at 10am and reached Ipoh around 12pm. Must be something foul that Wong took in the morning which had caused his stomach upset and our detour to the nearest rest area.

Soon after, we checked into the Highway Hotel offering very competitive rates. Surprisingly the hotel was fully booked for the weekend mainly due to the nearby by-election. Importantly the place looks quite new and the sheets and room looked pretty clean as well. Fortunately there was a TV attached in the room so that we could catch "Lightning Bolt" breaking the WR for the 100m. Without wasting any time, we proceeded for lunch at a nearby Kopitiam and went shopping at Tesco and Jusco which is within walking distance. Except for Zaidi and Andrew who got some extra spring after their 2-hour long massage, everyone was back at the hotel before nightfall ready for dinner.

Dr Cheah and his wife picked us up from the hotel for dinner. And what not to miss while in Ipoh but the famous "Nga Choi Kai" or beansprout chicken. The beansprout was really fresh and gives us a crunchy feeling while you bite into it. But I still prefer our own Hainanese chicken, especially the one in Cintra Street.

Yes. The steamed chicken in Ipoh not as good as our Penang Hainanese Chicken.

Moreover, the matching of Ipoh Hor Fun soup (Ipoh Linguini soup) with the chicken does not go along very well.

The beansprout was good and fresh but a bit too peppery which kill the original taste of the beansprout.

Thanks to Dr. Cheah and his wife for the dinner.

I agree with the chicken but no complaints from me about the beansprouts and Hor Fun though. Linguini soup hahahaha...

A big thank you to the Ipoh Kledang Joggers group and PAC for organizing this event.
