Having been a Penangite all my life, this is certainly great news to Penang and its community. To be listed in the Unesco list together with other great sites like
Angkor Wat, Borobudur and the
Historic City of Ayutthaya is simply a great recognition and deservedly so. Well, there's a lot more work to be done in preserving these heritage sites but let's rejoice the moment for this long-awaited award.
Besides Georgetown, other sites in Malaysia that were listed are
Melaka,
Kinabalu Park (Sabah) and Gunung Mulu National Park (Sarawak).
Thanks again to
Boon's gallery, I've been able to share some photos depicting the heritage sites of Penang. Well done and keep up the good work, Boon.
